Town Leadership
Mayor
Elected to the Town Council at just 19, he became Mayor at 21, making him the second youngest mayor in Maryland’s history. In 2004, he was inducted into the Maryland Municipal League’s Municipal Officials Hall of Fame. He has served on the MML Executive Committee in recent years as President-elect, following a tenure as treasurer. Since 2010, he has been on the Board of Directors as District Vice President and has also contributed to the MML Communications Committee. He graduated from the Academy for Local Governance in September 2013. Additionally, Mr. Schlosnagle is a Past President of the Garrett County Municipalities Board of Directors, serves on the Tri-County Council for Western Maryland, is a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and is a Lifetime member of The Friend Family Association of America..

Mayor & Town Council Meetings
Meeting Agenda
Come and participate in the Friendsville Mayor & Town Council meetings. The meetings are scheduled for the first Monday of January, February, and December. From March to November, the meetings will take place on the first and third Mondays. The meetings commence at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers within the town hall, located at 945 Community Drive, Friendsville, MD 21531.
These meetings will cover a range of topics pertinent to our community, providing updates on ongoing projects and addressing various matters crucial to our town’s well-being.
We extend a warm invitation to all members of the Friendsville community to attend and actively engage in these discussions. Your valuable opinions and ideas play a vital role in shaping the future of our town.

Election
Term of Office
The Mayor and members of the Town Council shall be elected for two (2) years and shall hold office from the first Monday in March following their elections for two (2) years thereafter or until their successors are elected and qualified.
Elections; Term of Office: Appointments: The election of the Mayor and three (3) members of the Town Council whose terms shall expire on the first Monday in March in the second year (even year) of their term, shall be held on the second Tuesday, in February, and those elected shall hold office for a term of two (2) years from the date of their election and qualification. The election of three (3) members of the Council whose terms shall expire on the first Monday in March in the second year (odd year) of their term, shall be held the second Tuesday in February and those elected shall hold office for a term of two (2) years from the date of their election and qualification. If during the even year only one candidate runs for Mayor and no more than three candidates for Town Council, then there will not be an election, and they will be declared elected. If during the odd year no more than three candidates run for Town Council, then there will not be an election, and they will be declared elected.
Qualifications
Qualifications: No person shall be eligible to occupy a seat on the Town Council unless he or she shall have attained or will attain the age of twenty-one(21) years by the date of the election and shall have reside within the corporate boundaries of the Town of Friendsville for at least six (6) months prior to the election. He or she shall be qualified voter in Town elections. The Council shall be the judge of the qualification of its members.
Candidate Petition of Office
Nomination by Petition: The Mayor and Town Council of Friendsville, in lieu of any primary election, shall cause to be placed on the official ballot of the Town the name of any registered voter of the Town who fulfills the qualification for the office he or she seeks and who delivers to the Town of Friendsville Clerk-Treasurer on or before the second Monday in January by 12:00 noon, a petition asking to be placed on said ballot, setting forth his or her name, residence, a statement that he or she is of sufficient age to seek and hold such office, whether he or she is a citizen of the United States, the length of time he or she has resided in the Town of Friendsville, and the office which he or she seeks.
