Emergency Preparedness Presentation

This presentation has been cancelled due to the low temperatures forecast for tomorrow night. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

Do you want to know what to do in case of an emergency? Please plan to attend an Emergency Preparedness Presentation on Tuesday, January 30th at 6:30 p.m. in Town Hall at 313 Chestnut Street. Examples discussed are what to do if a tornado is coming or touches down; major flooding, a toxic spill in town or near the Youghiogheny River and where to go in the event of an evacuation of the town.

Mr. John Frank, Director of Garrett County Emergency Services will be doing the presentation. Please plan to attend this presentation

Election Day, February 13, 2018

The deadline to Petition for Office is over and the persons who filed are as follows:

Petition for the office of Mayor: Spencer R. Schlosnagle

Petition for the office of three open council seats are: Jerry C. Fike, Pamela S. Humberson, Edward B. Kelley and Julia V. Sines.

Anyone who will not be in town the day of the election or unable to leave their home may contact Karen Benedict or Robin Sines at Town Hall, 301.746.5919 seven days prior to the election and ask for an absentee ballot.

Petition for Office

Any resident of the Town of Friendsville who is registered with the County Board of Elections or the Town of Friendsville Election Board may file a Petition for Office for the position of Mayor or one of three Town Council Members positions in the February 13, 2018 municipal election They must submit a Petition for Office with the Clerk/Treasurer by 12:00 noon on Monday, January 8, 2018

The Clerk/Treasurer will be available at Town Hall on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Members of the current Town Government who are eligible to seek re-election are Council Members Pamela S. Humberson, Julia V. Sines and Jerry C. Fike. Mayor Spencer R. Schlosnagle is also eligible to seek re-election. The term runs for a period of two years, expiring in March 2020.

The Flotilla has been reschedule for this Saturday, August 12th!  Registration will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m at Precision Rafting on Maple Street.  Lineup begins at 4:45 p.m.  There will be some great prizes and  no registration fee. Any questions please call 301.746.5290 or 301.501.6543.

APRIL: The last two Fridays (4/21, 4/28).
MAY: The first two Mondays (5/1, 5/8), first three Fridays (5/5, 5/12, 5/19), first Saturday (5/6), and Sunday (5/28) and Monday (5/29) for Memorial Day weekend.
JUNE: All Mondays, all Fridays, and the last two Saturdays (6/17, 6/24).
JULY: All Mondays, all Fridays, and all Saturdays.
AUGUST: All Mondays, all Fridays, and all Saturdays.
SEPTEMBER: All Mondays, all Fridays, and the first two Saturdays (9/2, 9/9).

Review of Historical Markers

The final draft of the Historical Markers for the Interactive Walking Tour will be available for review in the Friendsville Office of the Ruth Enlow Library on Saturday, May 13th from 9 am to 2 pm and in the Town Hall on Monday, May 15th from 9 am to 3:00 pm.

PETITION FOR PUBLIC OFFICE

Any resident of Friendsville who is registered with the County Board of Elections or the town of Friendsville Election Board may file a petition for office for the position of one of three town council member positions for the February 14, 2017 municipal election.  They must submit a Petition for Office to the Clerk/Treasurer by 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017.  The Clerk/Treasurer will be available at Town Hall on Monday’s, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  Council members Thomas Fike, Joseph Sessa and Jess Whittemore are eligible to file for re-election.  Julia Sines, Pamela Humberson and Jerry Fike have one year remaining along with Mayor Schlosnagle.
